I completed my dental nursing training at smile style. Here I have refined my nursing skills through learning four handed dentistry and working along side quality dentists producing quality dentistry. My role at Smile Style is to be there for every patient coming into the practice offering support and compassion for any issues they nay have with their dental health. I am also there to support the dentist through treatment within the surgery.

As a Trainee Dental Nurse working in a private practice, it is my duty to assist the dentist in any procedures a patient may be undergoing. This can include: preparing the surgery and the materials ready for examinations, fillings, crowns, veneers, denture and/or orthodontic work; ensuring that the surgery is sterile and fit for purpose; ensuring all equipment is decontaminated and sterile ready to be used; and any admin duties that need to be completed, such as working on the reception and filling out the appropriate forms to be sent off to the laboratories. I am working at a private practice and because of this I will have the experience of working within cosmetic dentistry, and also with assisting in cosmetic procedures such as botox and derma fillers. Due to being a recent trainee I am still learning about the dentist industry and aiming to improve on these skills to ensure I am successful in my Dental Nursing position.

My responsibilities include: giving an excellent customer service on the shop floor; replenishing stock; rotating stock; code checking; general house keeping. However, these are not the only responsibilities I have had. I have changed the seasonal aisle following a planogram, and also when I was working on clothing I had to do new layouts. When doing these layouts, sometimes we could not follow the planograms, which meant I had to be creative in trying to get all the products on display that needed to be on. I have also looked after new colleagues we have had in store and also looked after the department when the department manager and team leaders were not in store.
