Profile bio

About Laura Voisingeorge

The crossroad of my interests is the intersection between the built & natural environment and history & cultural resources, with sustainable land use and community identity. Growing out of my dissatisfaction with how “preservation” efforts usually seem to happen, I am looking at this crossroad for a way:- to identify what is important to a community before it is threatened by new development, - how to appropriately preserve and convey/interpret what’s important about a place,- and how to acknowledge that what’s important today may be ignored or superceded ten years from now, either by subsequent “history” or by a change among the residents of that place.Understanding the commonality of the shared community – the physical environment and the lives lived in it – and history’s place within this identity, can provide a foundation for our decisions (and decision-making process) for the future and its challenges.

Listed skills include Historic Preservation, Research, History, Urban Planning, and 18 others.
