Assessed environmentally-responsible battery recycling to become corporate subject matter expert through research, industry associations, and in-depth reviews with start-up companies. Defined corporate point-of-view on scrap and end-of-life recycling to advance a circular economy for electric vehicle batteries throughout the industry. Implemented recycling program for end-of-life EV batteries across over 200 sites in California. Co-developed and launched a pilot battery tracking system utilizing blockchain technology to ensure end-of-life recycling. Verified chain-of-custody across 5+ hand-offs from collection to final recycling.

Built a global team out of four regional teams. Aligned sourcing and provided coaching and guidance to new team members so that the team would be successful as a whole. Traveled to Asia, Europe, and South America visiting supplier plants and developing relationships with global counterparts. Drove global sourcing strategy with transparency and consistency. Worked closely with engineering, quality, finance, programs, suppliers, and other organizations to drive on-time sourcing within cost and quality targets for all programs globally. Represented 25 buyers in the personnel committee, led performance and compensation planning for department, and managed headcount budget. Met or exceeded challenging cost-down objectives year after year. Drove complex sourcing solutions for a large, global recall.

Drove purchasing deliverables during the development and launches of the Ford Taurus, Taurus SHO, Explorer, Police Sedan, Police SUV, and Ford MKS, including sourcing on time and at required quality and cost levels. Built strong relationships at all levels of the Purchasing organization and cross-functionally (Vehicle Line Director, Finance Controller, Chief Nameplate Engineers, Marketing Managers, Integration Managers, etc.) by understanding what drives their organizations and supporting their objectives. Sought new opportunities to build technical excellence by, taking on new programs, rebalancing the team’s workload, attending high-level management meetings and representing Senior Manager and/or Director as required. Continued to develop management/leadership skills with direct reports and mentoring peer in taking on incremental responsibilities. Established new tools and applied lessons learned to prepare for the 2013 programs.

Prepared production purchasing for its first major audit since the Sarbanes-Oxley legislation was enacted, resulting in no major comments. Trained all production purchasing personnel in proper policies and procedures; wrote new procedures as required.

Led IT and Business team and worked closely with cross-functional peers to design, test, and implement new system solutions for purchasing business needs (2 Patents Awarded).

Deployed lean manufacturing practices in supply base for automotive interior commodities. Taught lean manufacturing principles and techniques to cross-functional teams on-site and coached the teams to implement appropriate lean systems. Conducted workshops in Value-Stream Mapping, One-Piece-Flow lines, Pull Production Systems, Lean Line Layouts, Improved Material Flow, Quick Die Changeover, and Visual Factory. Conducted Lean Assessments at dozens of sites across Ford's supply base including suppliers of stampings, castings, assemblies, moldings, etc. Supervised 4 lean engineers.
