I write speculative fiction for children and teens. My short stories have appeared in YARN.net, Cicada, Solstice Literary Magazine, and Soundings Review. MARKED (Clarion Books) is my most recent YA novel. My other children's/YA novels are ALIA WAKING (Clarion Books) and WATER SHAPER (Clarion Books). I also teach and mentor writers of all ages. I recently joined Vermont Afterschool as a Community Coordinator in Cabot, Vermont for the Vermont Youth Project. I'm Core Faculty at Solstice, a low-residency MFA program, as well as at Pacem School and Homeschool Center. In addition, I teach in the Professional Writing major at Champlain College. From 2016-2019, I was the Fiction Editor at YARN.net.Specialties: writing and critiquing speculative fiction; writing and critiquing children's/YA literature; mentoring writers of all ages; creating teaching materials for children's/YA literature; presenting on children's/YA writing, children's/YA literature, and writing speculative fiction; fostering a youth council and facilitating the council’s use of a participatory budgeting process
