Laura is a partner at venture firm Base10, leading portfolio services and impact partnerships for the Advancement Initiative, the firm's growth stage funds that donate 50% of profits to organizations diversifying tech. Laura works across the portfolio to support executive teams in embedding mission, transparency, sustainability, and diversity into organizational strategy and operations as a means to drive financial outperformance.

On the steerco of VentureESG, a network of 450+ VCs and 110+ LPs working to adapt ESG concepts and frameworks for the venture ecosystem.

Overseeing our social innovation fund, portfolio support, and ecosystem development, sitting at the nexus of strategy and operations. Traveled for 303 days with my husband and daughter (she was 8mo when we left and 18mo when we returned). Wrote a book about it -- Unstuck Together: Reflections on Parenting, Partnership, and Packing from 303 Days on the Road with a Baby (New Degree Press, 2020).

Code2040 is a community of Black and Latinx technologists and their allies who are diversifying tech to create a more equitable, inclusive, and prosperous economy.Through high-impact direct service programs, robust in-person and online community engagement, and dynamic storytelling and knowledge sharing, Code2040 empowers and mobilizes diversity champions across the industry.Our goal is to ensure that by 2040 – the beginning of the decade when the US will be majority people of color – Black and Latinx people are fully represented in and leading the innovation economy, and have the economic and social capital needed to thrive and build generational wealth.We are based in San Francisco and work with students, professionals, and companies around the country.

In summer 2016, I joined the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy for a six month term as a senior advisor to U.S. Chief Technology Officer Megan Smith. I focused on issues of diversity and inclusion, specifically related to ensuring hiring, entrepreneurship, and the tech products and platforms of the future work for all Americans, particularly those from historically marginalized backgrounds.

Invited member of the National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship under Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker.

Worked with CEO and founders to define corporate and product strategy; collaborated across multiple teams to define and manage the product development process; oversaw business development efforts; managed quality assurance team, ux/design team, and strategy team simultaneously; worked closely with CTO to roadmap the change from consumer product company to developer platform.

Managed the programmatic phase of a massive public art project entailing the placement of flowered vinyl panels hand-painted by 25,000 children and volunteers on 3,000 New York City taxi cabs. Coordinated all volunteer sessions, made media appearances, and supervised staff of 25.

Managed web development projects for clients including Conde Nast Publications. Liaised between technical and editorial personnel.

Co-directed this 30-year-old community service organization while a Harvard undergraduate. Upon graduation, received the Pforzheimer and the Richardson Fellowships from Harvard to expand the program to the University of Pennsylvania. Successfully recruited undergraduates as well as elementary and middle schools to participate in the pilot year of the program. Trained undergraduates to run the program upon my departure. Program has run continuously and served hundreds of children since the founding year, and was the first successful expansion of the program to another university.Also a founding board member, helping to create organization, structure, and directives for an alumni advisory board whose mandate includes support of all programs across all campuses.
