Now retired, I spend my time traveling, writing, and hiking.Preceding my career with the Federal Government, I worked in leadership positions in the telecommunications and information technology industries. During a 16 year tenure with the Bell System and associated companies, I rose from customer service in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Vice President of the Government & Educational Services Division of US West, headquartered in Portland, Oregon. Following an early retirement from US West Communications, I served in executive capacities with two international information technology firms, Computer Task Group (CTG) and Ajilon. As Managing Director for CTG's Western Division, I oversaw more than 2500 people across the western 2/3 of the U.S. Immediately prior to joining the government, I was an independent business consultant specializing in process improvement and recruiting. My clients included a large business association and a medical device manufacturer. I entered government service in September 2005, where I served as Manager of the Foreign Language Program in Portland, and as Administrative Officer prior to transfer to Rome. As Administrative Officer I was responsible for such diverse programs as human resources, facilities management, procurement, communications, evidence, investigative support, and records management.
