Laurel divides her time between managing her family’s real estate investments and directing social investments for her family's Alpenglow Foundation. Her private practice legal career (1985-1998) centered on corporate finance and business combinations. She crossed over to the business side in 1998, joining the senior management team of her largest client, a high-growth international restaurant concept pioneering the quick casual segment. As General Counsel and Vice President, Corporate Strategy, she guided the company to an $80M refinance and strategic alliance with McDonalds. From 2005-2010, she made five documentary films, co-writing and co-producing the award-winning feature documentary, A Land Out of Time (2006) and four short form docs on the theme of ordinary people empowering change. She and her husband, John Catto, divide their time between Colorado's Roaring Fork Valley and Utah canyon country. She enjoys mountain flying in a Cessna T206H and piloting longer trips in a TBM 930.
