I have recently completed my Master of Science in Operations Research at Columbia University, and I was a double major in Applied Math and Statistics and Biology at Macalester College.During my undergraduate studies, while working at the University of Minnesota doing DNA Repair research. I learned to appreciate that a single alteration in DNA can result in a change that impacts cell functions, thus leading to significant implications for organisms. Through my research experience, I have also gained a great deal of patience, as results are often inconclusive, which in many cases means that the experiment must be run again. I have found the value in scrutinizing results, and a desire to collect more information before coming to a conclusion. During my lab experience, I only interacted with other individuals in the lab; however, my role at Vermillion State Bank was a client-facing role in which I learned all aspects of retail banking, working primarily in the operations department. I addressed from thirty to fifty customers' problems with everything, ranging from managing their online banking and bill pay to investigating fraud daily. In this role, I was interacting directly with customers and people who will be served by the data I plan to analyze in my future career.I would greatly appreciate any opportunity to help me cultivate and further hone data analytics and statistics skills and challenge me intellectually.
