I like to help people answer questions. I have experience writing and administering surveys on topics ranging from in-depth academic studies to short workshop evaluations. I enjoy the challenge of writing an effective survey that collects useful information. It's fun to analyze the resulting data and find answers. I also enjoy helping other people create effective surveys.My professional career has been spent in higher education, most of it at the University of Michigan. I have worked in student affairs and institutional research. Having experience in two different areas has been extremely useful as the perspectives complement each other. Institutional research is valuable only if the results of that research can be effectively communicated with all members of the community. I am extremely detail-oriented.My other passion is running. I have been a competitive runner for over 40 years, starting in high school, continuing at the University of Michigan, and culminating with three decades of road racing which included two trips to the Half Marathon World Championships (1995 & 1996). I've also been involved with race management for about two decades through assisting with our local running club's premier event, the Dexter-Ann Arbor Run, and numerous other local races. I am a Road Runners Club of America ("RRCA") Certified Race Director. I served as president of the Ann Arbor Track Club (Ann Arbor, MI) from January 3, 2020, through November 20, 2022. In this capacity I was responsible for oversight and management of all AATC activities and administration. I continue to serve as an advisor to the current board of directors. From 2016-2021 I was the membership coordinator. During these five years I cleaned and organized the club's membership database and assisted with the transition to a modern CRM platform. In my spare time I enjoy freelance writing, reading the New York Times, and playing with my Welsh Corgi.
