Food + Market Manager
CurrentManage both the Main Street Farmers Market, which is an indoor winter market, and the Northern Poconos Mobile Farm Market, which travels around Wayne and Pike County to provide an affordable, accessible, and equitable method for seniors and low- to middle-income folks to purchase locally grown and produced foods. Facilitate NEAR Cash (Nutrition Education Awareness Rewards) to extend the buying power of SNAP benefits and further improve access to local foods. This program collaborates with Wayne Memorial Health's Food Rx Program. Collaborate with other community partners to hold quarterly Senior Gathering luncheon events where older adults can gather around a shared meal for a bit of educational or entertaining programming, all in the name of combating the social isolation that many older individuals can experience.Provide both internal and external food outreach programming. Examples of internal programming include presentations and demonstrations for The Cooperage Project's Pop-Up Clubs, while external programming includes more public facing events done in conjunction with other local organizations.Speaking and presentation topics can be tailored for all ages and include:- food systems and the local foodscape, including the benefits of eating local, in-season foods- agriculture and gardening topics, including soil science and beginner gardening education
