FounderEmotional Brain Training | Ebt Jan 1997 - PresentSan Francisco Bay AreaEBT is a new paradigm in healthcare designed to provide a psychotherapeutic treatment for the age of the emotional brain and in response to the new pandemic of stress overload. Current therapies fall short of being brain-based in that they do not provide users with the tools to switch off stress overload or the training to raise the brain's set point, which is the physiologically-based best predictor of health. Also, EBT is a comprehensive system of care so that users have peer connections and a small remote group experience. Instead of accessing care once weekly from a provider, they have ongoing support as stress overload can occur anytime and anywhere. Last, EBT is for all people and can be used either preventively or therapeutically. Memberships for self-care, weekly group support, or daily intensives are available. As the experience of using EBT to "spiral up" and switch off stress overload and activate joyous states is unique, most people begin exploring how the method can be used in their professional and personal lives by becoming a member at EBT.ORG and trying out the tools. Certifications for ambassadors, coaches, and providers are available. -

Associate Professor Of Family And Community Medicine And PediatricsUcsf 1978 - Sep 2021San Francisco Bay AreaResearch and training in emotional brain training (EBT), including teaching medical students about emotional brain medicine. Research on EBT began in the 1980's with seeking to discover the root cause of the drive to overeat in children, discovering a study published in 1940 by psychiatrist Hilde Bruch at Baylor College of Medicine that pointed to the role of emotional disconnection. Laurel developed simple tools to promote emotional connection and many children stopped wanting to overeat. The brain science to explain this phenomenon had not been conducted yet, but that started her research and extending the methods to all stress-related problems, rewiring for an optimal brain set point, and empowering people to fully actualize their brain's capacity to rewire the past, and create a present and future of optimal well-being. -
