Creative Writing TeacherSharpening The Quill Jan 2001 - Present"Sharpening the Quill" is a monthly writing workshop held the last Saturday of every month in Princeton, New Jersey. For more information, please see my website, or email me at Lauren@laurenbdavis.com"Sharpening the Quill" is ALSO a 24-week creative writing course I developed. Perhaps talent can’t be learned, but how to skilfully use the writers’ tools can. “Sharpening the Quill” is designed not only to inspire and guide, but also to hone the craft of fiction writing. Students will explore structure, conflict, point of view, voice, characterization, setting, language, narrative distance, critical analysis and more. For committed beginners as well as those who have been writing for some time. Students will be expected to practice free-writing, complete writing exercises as well as specific assignments. Each class will cover specific topics as well as practice writing about a different emotion. Designed to be taken chronologically, but students can begin at the start of any session. Can be taught in person or by email.

Writer-In-ResidenceTrinity Church, Princeton Sep 2007 - Jun 2010This program is designed as a way to investigate how creativity can enhance the spiritual journey. Participants meet one-on-one with Trinity’s Writer-in-residence for one hour at a time, to discuss creative projects; to receive support and, if desired, feedback, on writing projects; or to explore ways in which creativity can deepen one’s relationship with the sacred. Participants are asked to make a donation in any amount they wish, to support Trinity’s outreach programs, although a donation is not required. This service is available to anyone in the wider Princeton community.Creative writing classes are given periodically, with proceeds going to support the Reading Series and other Trinity programs. The Trinity Church Reading Series is also part of this program. Novelists, poets and non-fiction writers give readings from their work and meet readers in an informal social setting. These readings are publicized in the Princeton media and attract 50-70 participants.
