Main project: A Response to Canadian Indigenous Community Priorities in CancerResponsible for providing support to ensure the successful implementation of the project “Response to Canadian Indigenous Community Priorities in Cancer," an initiative designed to support the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer in their efforts to address the Truth and Reconciliation Commission calls to Action 18, 19, 20, & 22. The initiative supports the creation and implementation of culturally appropriate healthcare provider education and strategies. An underlying aim is to create an Indigenous Knowledge Translation Framework in cancer Control. The framework will support improvements towards culturally safe cancer care and screening services for First Nations, Inuit and Metis Canadians. It will include principles in culturally appropriate health education resources, tools and expertise in providing cancer control services and programming to Indigenous cancer patients, families and communities.Involvement in other projects and tasks as assigned:- Updating CINA's website (using Drupal operating system) and developing and posting content on CINA's social media platforms- Developing and coordinating CINA's Nominate a Nurse or Midwife campaign

Unit: Hematology/Medical OncologyCare provided to Hematology Oncology / Benign Hematology patients (various diagnoses of Leukemia, Lymphoma, Multiple Myloma, Sickle cell, DVT / PE Management) and Medical Oncology patients with solid tumor malignancies requiring crisis management and palliation. Both populations are admitted for initiation of chemotherapy as well as chemo related side effects / toxicities. High level RN scope of practice for this patient population, including but not limited to: Transfusion of blood products, Picc line / central line care, Care of side effects caused by chemo / BMT transplant, Patient education, Interpretation of lab valuesUndertook Charge Nurse duties on night shifts. These duties included interacting with the Bed Manager, coordinating overnight admissions, arranging break schedules for staff, completing the narcotic count in the Pyxis, and completing the crash cart check on a regular basis.

From June 2014 to December 2014, worked in Burmese migrant schools in Thailand as a teacher for high school students (English & Social Studies) and school committee member, helping to maintain relations with donor partners and contribute to financial decisions for school budgets.
