About Lauren Davern

As a driven bioengineering student at Purdue University with a passion for marine biotechnology, I’ve had the opportunity to work across diverse environments—from academic research to industry. My current internship at Azul Biotechnology allows me to apply my skills in DNA quality control, 3D modeling, and microbiome research, contributing to the development of innovative solutions in coral restoration and marine ecosystem preservation. My academic journey has been marked by hands-on research in developmental biology, where I led projects on zebrafish skeletal abnormalities, and by leading teams in bioinformatics and food product design. These experiences have honed my ability to manage complex research projects, optimize laboratory processes, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve impactful results.I am passionate about leveraging bioengineering and biotechnology to solve environmental challenges, especially those related to ocean conservation. With strong technical skills in Python, MATLAB, and CAD software, and field experience as a certified scuba diver, I’m eager to continue developing solutions that bridge biology and engineering for sustainable impact.
