I have over 20 years’ experience as a medical researcher, scientific advisor and program manager. I have a PhD from the Australian National University Medical School where I undertook research on SARS-CoV anti-viral drug discovery. I have a second PhD in forensic science from University Canberra , which was completed as part of a prestigious Secretary of Defence fellowship. My experience has provided me with in-depth scientific expertise and the ability to translate scientific research into strategic organisational objectives. My talent for bringing people together to solve complex scientific and strategic problems ensures that the right people are engaged at the right time and contributes to the achievement of objectives. I was appointed by the Minister for Health and Aged Care to the Advisory Committee on Vaccines. I represented the Australian Federal Police (AFP) on bioterrorism committees and the chair of the Australian (counter) Bioterrorism Network commended me on the role I played in bringing together health and law enforcement. The chair of the INTERPOL bioterrorism expert committee noted my efforts in developing the bioterrorism awareness training, for which I was awarded the AFP National Managers Medal. I have been awarded a Secretary of Defece/Chief of Defence Foce commendation, a Chief Defence Scientist commendation and a Chief commendation. I am passionate about promoting science and run a science club to inspire students at Telopea Park primary. I also mentor staff/students, and have developed and managed organizational mentoring programs.
