I am a dedicated PsyD student currently immersed in my internship year at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles, a Bureau of Prisons (BOP) facility. In my first rotation in this role, I provide essential mental health services to pre-trial and designated individuals through a combination of brief clinical therapy and group treatments. My responsibilities extend to future rotations where I will conduct forensic evaluations and work closely with newly arrived individuals to coordinate their treatment and care.Throughout this internship year, I actively participate in crisis intervention, engage in interdisciplinary collaboration, and contribute to essential correctional tasks, all of which are essential in providing comprehensive mental health support within a correctional setting.Before embarking on this internship journey, I gained invaluable experience during my practicum placements. I had the opportunity to work at Adventist Health-Vallejo, an inpatient psychiatric hospital catering to a diverse range of patients from children to older adults. I also dedicated my time to SacEDAPT, where I played a crucial role in early psychosis treatment for youth to adults. Additionally, my experience at River Oaks in the field of community mental health, primarily serving youth, was enriching and formative.My academic journey at California Northstate University has not only equipped me with the necessary knowledge and skills but also allowed me to be an active participant in various organizations. I've been engaged with my school's student activities committee and have been an active member of the Sacramento Valley Psychological Association.
