As a customer distribution agent, my primary role was on the ullage team who dealt with the return of MC kegs. The responsibilities for this role were as followed; Issuing credits to customers, wholesalers and MC suppliers, liaising with customers reporting queries, liaising with Trade Team daily to plan in uplifts for pubs and wholesalers, liaising with the technical services department, training new starters and running daily reports. A particular achievement in this role was helping the team to achieve their highest customer service score to date.As well as my primary role, I was also involved in a number of projects both within and outside of my department. I am particularly proud of a project that I created and ran myself, ‘QR labels project’. I spotted the potential for QR codes to be printed onto the labels of MC kegs. After presenting my idea the head of logistics at MC I lead and ran this project myself for six months. This involved engaging with a variety of stakeholders both within and outside MC. By the end of my placement I had a prototype ready, a full project handover written and my project has been confirmed into the long-range plan for MCD.After recognising my interest in digital innovation my manager gave me the role of ‘Digital Champion’ for the ullage team. This was in line with the team’s goal to obtain higher volumes of queries through digital formats

After my placement year had ended I decided to do an internship in the brands and marketing department at MC, something no placement student had ever done before. This was because I have a keen interest in this area and have taken brands and marketing modules in my degree.My greatest achievement was being involved in the preparation and production for the ‘for real’ Carling TV campaign advert. My responsibilities involved attending cast selection meetings, preparing NDA forms for actors, cast wardrobe, prepping props, keeping cast members occupied. Handling confidential documents both from MCBC and the production company.I was also involved in the ‘we got this’ project run by Carling where they offer to fund a refurbishment project for a struggling pub/community centre that is key in the local community and could use some help. I was involved in the final nomination selection process; the refurbishment will later be shown in a Carling TV advert. I was involved in the Carling Digital font project. This involved attending meetings with the design manufacturers of the digital screen for the font as well as helping to create the content to be displayed on the digital font.A particular enjoyment of my internship was attending the brands ‘creative day’. This session was led by Tim Reid who was the co-creator of BAFTA award winning Peter Kay’s Car Share. The emphasis of the day was learning how to turn thoughts into ideas.
