I worked on improving the customer experience, SEO optimisation, brand personality and content quality. Provided well-written, organized, relevant web content to target and expand the site’s demographic all technically optimised to attract and engage visitors.

In this voluntary position I assisted in the running of media operations in the lead up to Jersey hosting the Island Games, a large scale event that is similar to the Commonwealth Games but for island nations. This included hosting press conferences, writing press releases and planning coverage suitable for a range of media including broadcast, newspaper and radio journalists. In this role I was responsible for sourcing, researching and writing highly engaging content primarily for a print and online audience. I collaborated with key stakeholders to ensure the end to end delivery of five to ten pages of content per day including a variety of content styles and content types to appeal to the target audience. I regularly used my strong sub-editing skills including proofreading, editing and applying legal knowledge to optimise contributed copy, applying style and tone of voice. As well as developing new ideas and contributing to the content strategy to plan upcoming work, I also established and maintained a social media presence for the newspaper using Twitter to break stories, attract reader and provide live coverage of events.Highlights included coverage of international sporting events including Commonwealth Games, Island Games and Jeux des Iles. Interviewing high profile sports stars like Heather Watson, Tim Henman, Paul Annacone, Sabine Lisicki, Elena Baltacha, Steve Cram, Phil Liggett, Serena Guthrie and Liz Cann.
