Through my years of working in care, hair and service industry I have gained knowledge, understanding and skills which have become transferable to many jobs and aspects of daily life. Working in care has given me the opportunity to work with many individuals with various wants and needs with care plans tailored to themselves. This role has allowed me to develop skills in person centred care, providing appropriate care inline with documentation and legislation engaging in effective communication with individuals who have various communication methods, providing me with the knowledge to be able to understand a person as an individual and tailor their care to their holistic needs.Working in the hair and service industry has given me knowledge and skills working in a busy environment, where not only face to face communication was required but telephone communication also. Here booking appointments, reservations and completing stock checks was required of me, sometimes talking to individuals who show challenging behaviour. By showing empathy, offering options and alternatives and listening to the customers whilst maintaining professionalism at all times, solutions were found.As well as this through all experience I have had, the appropriate completion of documentation has been required. Whether this is completing booking forms, health and safety documentation or documentation regarding service users and their personal lives. This documentation is written inline with legislation and maintained sufficiently at all times whilst ensuring data protection and confidentiality is upheld with the understanding that safeguarding issues may effect this.As well as this I am currently enrolled in a full time social care degree where I am able to work on the theory of the social care industry and provide knowledge and understanding to my practise. Being involved in such degree has allowed me to progress in my social care career already and will continue to do so as I continue to study and attain my degree and further my Masters in Social Work.
