As an Interior Designer at Scott Brownrigg I am responsible for ensuring the progress and development of numerous design schemes for a number of high profile clients. I am involved in all aspects of the design process from initial brief and concept development through to detailing and delivery.

As part of Property & Store Development I worked with a team of Project Managers to design and plan Arcadia’s commercial office space, ranging from small moves for developing teams up to large scale refurbishment of entire buildings.I was involved in the regeneration of the BHS head office in Marylebone in which I embarked on space planning exercises to consolidate two buildings into one. The project also involved move management, FF&E, interior specification and required frequent consultation with department managers and continuous liaison with contractors/consultants, suppliers and the buildings facilities team.Understanding how the different brands within Arcadia operated was key to the successful development of the office environment. Gaining experience working and designing internally for a large company highlighted the importance of fully understanding the user requirements in order to create a well designed and functional workplace, which is not only to the benefit of staff but essentially the proactivity of a business.

At Pellings I was involved in all stages of a projects development, from initial concept sketches and client consultation through to fi nal scheme proposals, detailing and fi nishes. Pellings utilised my skills to create 3D visualisations, detailed joinery packages and graphic design for Interiors projects. I also played a key support role for the Architects, providing consultation and advisory services for clients to ensure the best utilisation of projects.In addition to my Interiors responsibilities I regularly assisted the Marketing department by designing brochures and advertising material to promote the business.I was involved in a variety of small to large scale projects including public libraries, commercial fit out for offices, reception areas (for theatres, offi ces etc), and numerous education projects. My involvement in many sectors and the variety of projects I contributed to, has moulded me into a well rounded and versatile designer. My experience, gained at Pellings, has allowed me to develop positive relationships with team members, clients, contractors and suppliers, ensuring that my involvement on all projects is well managed and professional.At Pellings I was praised for my dedication to the business and my initiative to offer alternative suggestions to areas that could be developed. Working for John Lewis has given firsthand knowledge of the day to day operations of a large department store. I have gained valuable experience in understanding the methods used to create excellent consumer experience, as well as the daily operational and organisational aspects of a flagship store. I believe this awareness of retail from a front of house perspective, has given me an essential insight in understanding customer movement, their expectations of a stores environment and also the service in which they shouldexpect.The department managers utilised my design skills by involving me in numerous visual merchandising exercises. I was given one-on-one training in brand and display guidelines, to ensure that my displays concur with the general VM rollout throughout the Oxford Street store and all other branches. This enabled me to create displays within the department that were not only ‘on brand’ but consistent with the stores general aesthetic and to showcase key products. I was also involved in assisting stock location change in which I believe to have been an asset to the team with my ability to understand and interpret the drawings issued by the Store Development team.On a daily basis I was responsible for maintaining the merchandise within the department, customer service and cashier duties. The department managers recognised my skills, work ethic and trustworthiness by increasing my responsibilities to include cash control, handling money, dealing with complaints and authorising returns and exchanges within my department. I believe that throughout my time at John Lewis I was a valued member of the team.
