Having completed an MPhil in Psychology and Education from the University of Cambridge in 2010, I graduated as a dual qualified professional in the learning disabilities sector to further my career in this area. I have 15 years’ experience working in residential, community, and social settings with people who have a range of learning, physical and mental disabilities. Alongside this I also have nine years' experience working on several research projects, some published. These include sensory processing differences as a barrier to employment for people with autism and similar disabilities; the importance of autobiographies and service user’s voices; and the effectiveness of government legislation pertaining to the inclusion for students with disabilities within higher education. I also have experience of delivering group sessions on CBT, and gentle therapeutic exercise for older adults.As well as working full-time as a lecturer, I also write articles for nurses.co.uk advising prospective nurses, promoting equality and excellent practice.
