In this internship, I developed social media content, digital handouts, scripted video content, and other written and visual materials to promote the lab and support college students’ democratic engagement. During my first month in the position, I increased engagement on social media platforms by more than 110% through campaigns such as “Crimson Civic Chats,” the pursuit of collaborations, and the development of video content.

As a Writing Center tutor, I assisted peers with their writing and copyedited for various courses. All clients stated that they felt more secure in their writing by the end of the session. I received excellent client feedback, built a good rapport with them, and had multiple repeat clients each semester. Through my work at the Writing Center, I learned so much about language, enabling me to identify and create high-quality professional communication.

As an RA, I developed and maintained close relationships with 100+ residents throughout three years, counseling them on various personal and academic issues and modeling a standard of behavior. I emerged as a leader among staff and was asked to present at new staff training, provide a portfolio as an example of the department’s successes, and advertise the department for various UA media outlets. As a student leader, I helped the professional staff create both candidate-facing and public-facing content, as well as grown exceedingly confident with my communication in a professional setting. Additionally, I was selected to a 9-person campus-wide RA Advisory Board to represent area staff interests and was awarded RA of the Year for 2023, as well as RA of the Month for September 2022.

In this role, I supported the defense communications staff and worked directly under the Director of Communications. I had the opportunity to draft press releases, feature stories, video scripts, graphics, speeches, internal communications, social media posts, and much more. Throughout my internship, I learned about the highly technical aerospace and defense industry and was able to successfully create communications products that explained and sold our products.
