About Lauren B.
I'm a broadly trained research scientist with experiences in academia, environmental consulting and the startup space. At a super high level, I’m interested in nature-based solutions to climate and environmental issues but at a finer scale, my passions and expertise center on factors that increase soil organic carbon and drive species diversity of soil microbial communities. Within this realm, I’ve been part of teams that have 1) worked directly with farmers to understand how farming practices affect soil carbon dynamics and microbial activity, 2) combined satellite data, big data analysis, and machine learning to tokenize nature for its ecological value, 3) explored the effect that environmental factors can have on the ecological functions of microbes, and 4) described new species of cyanobacteria. Now as a HowGooder, I'll be modeling global crop impacts to help change the future of our food system!
