Hi, folks! I bring more than a decade of award-winning journalism and entrepreneurism to my current role as Senior Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing at The Hope Center for College, Community, and Justice. Formerly I was the Director of Communications at Media Impact Funders and Editorial Director of YES! Media, a solutions journalism magazine in Seattle and The GroundTruth Project’s inaugural international correspondent. For almost a decade, I reported on social justice issues from across the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. My words and photos have appeared in Foreign Policy—where I was one of the first female columnists—and in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, NBC News, The Atlantic, TIME, CNN, Newsweek, WIRED, among others.I've co-founded two social ventures: Foreign Policy Interrupted, an initiative dedicated to amplifying women-identifying voices in international affairs, and SchoolCycle, a United Nations Foundation campaign to provide bikes for schoolgirls in Malawi and Guatemala.I was a founding editor of the Cairo Review of Global Affairs, where I was a Fulbright fellow and Pulitzer Center grantee. I'm also a New America fellow in International Security and an Atlantic Council Millennium fellow. I'm originally from Philadelphia (#WawaLove) and I have a not-so-low-key obsession with all things stationery, lions, and almond butter.
