Laurence Rodrigues do Amaral is an associate professor at the Faculty of Computing (FACOM) at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), located in Patos de Minas - MG. He holds a PhD (DC / UFSCar), a Master's (FACOM / UFU) and a Bachelor's (FACOM / UFU) in Computer Science, and specialization in Biotechnology from the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA). He is currently accredited in the postgraduate program in Computer Science PPGCC / FACOM / UFU / Uberlândia, Artificial Intelligence area and in the postgraduate program in Biotechnology INGEB / UFU / Patos de Minas, area of Bioinformatics. Areas of interest: Artificial Intelligence, especially Genetic Algorithms, Machine Learning, Data mining and, Bioinformatics. He participated in the worldwide sequencing of the organisms Biomphalaria glabrata and Rhodnius prolixus. He collaborates in research projects linked to the National University of Ireland (Galway), Fiocruz, UFSCar, UFRJ, UFLA, UFOP, USP / Ribeirão Preto, UFAM, among others. He is a reviewer of articles for the following journals: IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, Bioinformatics (Oxford), Artificial Intelligence Review, Computers in Biology and Medicine, International Journal of Information Technology & Decision Making, among others. He is one of those responsible for the Laboratory of Bioinformatics and Molecular Analysis (LBAM) and Internet of Things the Federal University of Uberlândia-Campus Advanced Patos de Minas.
