As part of her current services at Fasken, Laurence assists registered firms in incorporating, administering and operating new issuers that qualify as investment funds under Canadian securities laws, in obtaining discretionary exemptions from applicable securities regulations granted by the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA), and in registering themselves or their representatives in new registration categories and/or new Canadian jurisdictions. She also assists registered firms in drafting their continuous disclosure filings and ensures their timely filing, in responding to questions, targeted reviews and audits from the Autorité des marchés financiers, and in drafting various agreements and contracts required of issuers in connection with any offering of securities and activities requiring the involvement of various service providers.Laurence is also authorized to act as chief compliance officer (CCO) for CSA-registered firms and can be seconded to clients to cover during the temporary absence of a CCO.Laurence has an excellent and extensive knowledge of Canadian securities laws and regulations, including that of the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO), as well as the anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing requirements applicable to CSA-registered firms under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (Canada) and the guidelines of the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC). She developed a training program that complies with FINTRAC requirements and offers this training to various clients.On a more personal level, Laurence is an avid outdoors enthusiast who primarily practices alpine and backcountry skiing in the winter. She also enjoys all types of cycling activities all year round, and even does her own repairs and maintenance. She strongly encourages, as much as possible, cycling as a form of transportation in the city!
