    Focus of research was on CFD methods with a low computational footprint - such as Reduced Order Modelling methods and viscous-inviscid interactive Euler codes. The application of these methods is for aeroelastics and aircraft loads estimations.The novel aspect of the research is to build an update or correction to a CFD based reduced order model to account for any additional influences not present in the CFD system. Examples of such an update include updating an Euler based reduced order model to include influences of viscosity. Or correcting a dynamic experimental tunnel test based on a dynamic free-stream Euler reduced order model.Much of the research has included coding CFD methods from first principles in FORTRAN and Python.The final stint of the PhD was completed over weekends while working full time.

    I worked as a research assistant (short term contract) on the FFAST (Future Fast Aeroelastic Simulation Technologies) project. Main focus of my work was developing and modifying the DLR TAU code (http://tau.dlr.de/) to function with the departments methods. Work also included setting up working practises for unsteady simulations and deforming geometries using RBF (radial basis functions) interpolation. Programming languages used are object oriented C++ and object oriented Python.
