In my role, I was the PI on Grants and Advance and Research Development (ARD) Contracts with NIAID/BARDA and let the team towards accomplishment of the defined milestones, on time and on budget. I also participated in market feasibility assessments (market analysis, ROI, go-no go decision gates for entry into clinical development of candidate vaccines) and also participated in all phases of successful new contract and grant proposal development, which generated R&D contracts with NIAID for $24.1M and $36.5M respectively, an ARD contract with BARDA for $35.4M and a PBS contract with BARDA for a base value of $200M and options up to $1.4B. I collaborated internally and externally to ensure adherence to activities designed to pursue appropriate vaccine candidates, and evaluated the financial, time and manpower costs to advance projects. Over the course of 5 years, I was the central project manager for the Center, managing activities from preclinical towards Phase 2 clinical evaluation. I developed and led timelines for 22 VRC clinical vaccine products and for 25 clinical trials using the VRC products, and served as the project manager for a HIV Phase IIb study of ~8500 volunteers over 4 networks. As part of my role, I worked with all contributing services to assure accuracy of timelines and to ensure that milestones are achieved and created and coordinated monthly budget reports for VRC clinical material sub-contracts.
