Nectar Partnerships Director
P&L responsibility for Nectar's existing relationships, and formed part of Nectar's Leadership Team reporting into the Managing Director.Exceeded all targets: - responsible for £300m in revenue - renegotiated a £35m contract with a "household name" retail brandLed the Nectar loyalty programme's 40-strong Partnerships team, responsible for existing relationships including British Gas, BP, American Express, Virgin Trains, and Nectar Business (our B2B loyalty programme).I led the team through a period of substantial change as Nectar underwent a digital transformation, and concluded the extension of several multi-year, multi-million pound contracts.
Business Development Director, Uk Loyalty
Nectar (the UK's largest loyalty programme) and Loyalty Services (Aimia's "white-label" loyalty business) were combined to create UK Loyalty, and this coincided with some departures from the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).As a result I was invited to join the SLT, continuing my remit to create long-term Loyalty Services partnerships, whilst leading Aimia's Digital Commerce team (a combined team 18-strong). From December 2013 I also took responsibility for Nectar's business development.During this time some notable achievements included: - Restructuring the Digital Commerce team, increasing efficiency and closer alignment with the Marketing team - Overseeing the launch and operation of Nectar Local, a pilot project in the South of England working to allow local merchants to reward customers with Nectar points - Closed long-term agreements with both First Group and Virgin Trains to become partners in Nectar - Significantly improved operational processes of eShops, Nectar's online affiliate marketing portal, increasing efficiency and profitability
Business Development Director Emea
Aimia (formerly Groupe Aeroplan) acquired Carlson Marketing, the full-service marketing agency, in 2009. In the summer of 2011 this business – now called Aimia Proprietary Loyalty - was restructured to focus solely on its loyalty marketing offering and I was brought into to help shape the new strategy, recruit a new team and lead the sales efforts.Working with the Managing Director I provided a fresh perspective on the strategy for the Proprietary Loyalty business, which saw an increased focus on securing long-term recurring revenue streams. I advised on team structure, interviewed new hires across the department, recruited a business development team and devised and implemented the sales strategy.Successes include leading a cross-company team to win a complex consultancy project for a top-ten UK and globally-recognised brand, following an RFI / RFP process. I then led the successful delivery of this consultancy and continue to work with the client on the future projects determined by this initial engagement.I also delivered Aimia it's first client globally on ALP, Aimia's loyalty software platform, for Avis, in a multi-year, pan-European agreement.
International Development Director
When moving into this role my aim was to create a Nectar-style coalition loyalty programme in a new geographical market. In June 2008 I become employee #3 on Nectar Italia, an €80m start-up which launched on 1st March 2010.In a Commercial Director role I worked with the Managing Director to secure the "anchor" partnerships in grocery (Groupe Auchan), fuel retailing (API IP, #3 in Italy), and consumer electronics (UniEuro, part of Dixons Group) before moving on to close additional contracts in the credit card and car hire sectors.I also established the initial partnerships necessary for the internet shopping portal, as well as negotiating key supplier contracts with Arvato Services and Philips Consumer Lifestyle to procure and deliver loyalty rewards to Nectar collectors.During the process I have helped build a 40-strong team based in Milan and remain focused on the Italian project, helping our in-country business development team as we target contracts in the insurance, travel, energy, mobile telephony and retail banking sectors.Keeping a close eye on loyalty initiatives worldwide, I have spoken at conferences in Warsaw and Moscow, and assessed loyalty opportunities on the ground in South East Asia and the Middle East.
Business Development Manager
Loyalty Management UK created Nectar, the UK's largest loyalty programme and second largest start-up company. It was acquired by Aeroplan in December 2008.Working in the business development team I began supporting major contract wins in travel (ebookers, Thomson), before playing a more prominent role in the signing of Gala Bingo which became Nectar's 4th largest partner. In the online space, I established white-label partnerships in mobile phone recycling, online DVD rental (LOVEFiLM) and Child Trust Funds. I also produced the business case and established the inital affiliate marketing partnerships (with Tradedoubler, Affiliate Window and Amazon) for eStores, Nectar's internet shopping portal. Finally, I signed Expedia to the programme in a multi-year, multi-million pound agreement as a points issuer and supplier.
Managing Analyst
Datamonitor specialises in market intelligence and consulting in a number of vertical sectors.Working in the Automotive team I researched and analysed market segments to provide industry intelligence for market leaders such as General Motors, Ford and Renault. My first market report, Automotive CRM, led to several radio interviews and a live interview on BBC1 (Business Breakfast).I went on to design, sell and deliver consulting projects for key automotive players, managing four full-time staff and larger part-time research teams.
Management Trainee
A fantastic first role giving me experience in sales, marketing, finance and operations at a dual-franchise Mercedes Benz and Porsche dealership. First-class training and a very desirable product!
