About Lauren Cross, Ph.D

I am a artist, curator/art historian, and interdisciplinary scholar-practitioner with experience working across the following areas: curatorial/museum studies, art history/visual culture/art theory, art/design/media, diversity/multicultural studies/women & gender studies, non-profit/for-profit management, social entrepreneurship/arts management, student and community programming & events, and organizational development. I have nearly 15 years of experience teaching in higher education as a college professor, and nearly 17 years of experience working in administrative/management positions in both public and private sectors. I am passionate about student development through active learning, and customized programs, events, and initiatives, which enable students to gain practical, relational, and social skills.I regularly contribute creative, technical, and academic writing for various fields. I specialize in qualitative research methods and analysis such as interviewing, focus groups, arts-based research methods as well as quantitative survey research and analysis. I am an interdisciplinary artist, and my work has been exhibited/ screened across the country. My first feature documentary, The Skin Quilt Project, was an official selection for the 2010 International Black Women's Film Festival, and my blog, "Lauren Cross's art blog: Thoughts and Opinions on My Art Making Process, and the Contemporary Art Scene," was selected as one of the "100 top blogs for art students" in 2010.
