As head of the DCRB Communications department, I am responsible for the agency’s overall communication strategy, including agency branding, positioning, media and stakeholder engagement, reputation risk and mitigation, and general oversight of key internal and external messaging.

As an independent consultant, I provide a variety of clients with public relations, marketing, reputation management, executive positioning and thought leadership, media relations, and brand strategy counsel. As part of the leadership team and in my role as Vice President of Communications, I oversaw the Alliance's strategic communications and reputation management efforts to position the organization and its leaders as the leading resource on issues impacting older Americans. In this role, I served as a spokesperson for the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, the federal agency responsible for regulating approx. 20 percent of U.S. gross domestic product. As a spokesperson and press officer at the GS-14 level, I planned and executed media strategies to raise the profile of key FDA programs, actions, and accomplishments.

In this role, I developed and executed national public relations and digital communications plans to elevate the MRF as the leading melanoma patient advocacy organization. Efforts including creative awareness campaigns, stakeholder engagement, digital strategy, content/publication development, media relations, brand refresh and management, spokesperson training, and message alignment and amplification positioned the MRF as the number one melanoma patient resource (as determined by social authority and other assessment tools). Served as Communications Manager from January 2013 to June 2014.
