Hello, my name is Laurene and I am a business strategist, entrepreneur, mentor, and my passion is holistic wellness. I work with women to focus on prevention of burnout, improving their performance and transformation in the overall quality of their lives. I spent over 30 years in a clinical role as a Medical Technologist. During my time at the Cleveland Clinic, I developed a Wellness Program for the Robert J Tomsich Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Institute, where I helped build and incorporate initiatives that promoted a stronger culture of wellness within the community.It wasn’t until some very dynamic and stressful life changes that I found myself facing my own health challenges. I then shifted my focus from aiding in the diagnosis of disease in the laboratory to focusing on the relationship with my own health. I made the shift to that of prevention, which started with my nutrition.In 2016, I was introduced to a holistic system that drastically improved my health, wellbeing and vitality. With my background in science, I was impressed with the unequivocal quality and efficacy of the system and knew that women, not only in general, but in stressful careers deserved to have this edge.I now work specifically with women to transform their physical health first, so they can impact their financial lives as well. Through group training, accountability, systems and support, I teach women effective exit strategies to supplement their retirement. I believe that everyone deserves to live healthy, be happy and to enjoy an abundant joyful life at the office and at home. Medical TechnologistCleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi Sep 2014 - Dec 2015Abu Dhabi, United Arab EmiratesDuring my time in Abu Dhabi, I coordinated the development and delivery of education and training programs, which were provided to over 650 Physicians, Nurses and Allied Health Professionals in Point of Care Testing. I was also assigned to implement a key Sustainability Project, which resulted in the successful activation and validation of the hospital’s Pneumatic Tube System. I collaborated with Pathologists, Technologists, Nursing and Laboratory Information System Teams to identify gaps and optimize patient reporting system and patient safety. As a Subject Matter Expert, I then developed and modified policies, procedures, and training competencies and participated in the successful inspection and accreditation by the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi and College of American Pathologists. Once the hospital became operational, I performed high complexity testing as a Medical Technologist.I served on Shared Governance Council, the Practice Core Council, and participated in ISO 15189 Laboratory Accreditation Training. I am a College of American Pathologists Laboratory Inspector. -
Wellness Champion For Robert J Tomsich Pathology And Laboratory Medicine InstituteCleveland Clinic 2012 - 2014Cleveland, OhioI developed programs, organized community, and built initiatives to promote a stronger culture of wellness for fellow Caregivers with educational and motivational enthusiasm. These programs also served to build pathways to improved teamwork, and improved communications and relationships with institute leadership. I implemented “Walk with a Doc”, within our Institute, which were lunchtime walks with staff and leadership, designed for all to get some exercise, relieve some stress, learn about new tests and their significance and build stronger bonds of the team.After creating other initiatives, “Come As You Are Yoga” was brought into the laboratory building to incorporate a wellness practice weekly during lunch hours. I sourced speakers for the Institute to speak on topics that gave caregivers tools to keep them on their A game, both physically and financially.Additionally, I led the planning and execution of the Wellness Room for the Institute. The Wellness Room is a quiet space where caregivers can go for a small break during the day, to meditate, de-stress and enjoy a massage so that they can return to their duties and provide excellent care to their patients. -
