I was born a dreamer, chasing the light even when the world appeared dark. ✨✨✨ I was single-minded, and yet accused of being too whimsical. I was driven, and yet told to doubt myself because my gender, brain and emotional intelligence were undervalued. However, at 16-years-old, my dreams, my passion, and, yes, even my whimsy launched my career when an out-of-state university offered me a scholarship to join their Communications Department. I did not hesitate. Since graduating top of my class with a journalism degree, my professional journey has taken many twists and turns, equipping me to work in a wide variety of industries in a diverse set of roles. In each role, I embrace challenges as a launching pad for personal growth and the acquisition of new skills. In each role, I dream and “chase the light.” I bring a bit of whimsy and a truckload of determination to each of my teams. 🤜🤛One of my favorite quotes by best-selling author Sarah J. Maas reads: “The world will be saved and remade by the dreamers.” She is not wrong. I repeat this mantra to myself often. But 15+ years into my career, I know that a dream alone doesn’t create a culture of growth and innovation.➡️ A dream must sprout legs and become a set of strategic actions by doers.➡️ A dream must transform into a fully-fledged, mission-driven story with a team dedicated to the importance of sharing unique solutions.➡️ A dream must not only “chase the light.” Excuse my early 2000s Katy Perry reference 🎵, but a dream better be able to carry the epithet: “Baby, you’re a firework / Come on, show ‘em what you’re worth.”➡️ A dream becomes a reality so much faster when the dreamers also believe in exquisite espresso drunk in enormous quantities.
