The Bugmy Bar Book is a resource summarising key research relating to experiences of disadvantage. The resource is aimed at assisting lawyers to assist in the preparation and presentation of evidence to establish the application of the Bugmy v The Queen (2013) 249 CLR 571 principles.I drafted two chapters on out-of-home care and acquired brain injury, and the potential impact of those experiences on persons coming into contact with the criminal justice system. Members of the Committee include representatives from the Public Defenders, the Aboriginal Legal Service, Legal Aid NSW, the private profession, and UNSW Law.
