Profile bio

About Lauren Marshall, Phd

Our communities and our natural places need strategic, sustainable solutions to our most pressing problems. These solutions will not be a single answer to a single problem, but will instead address levers within complex systems that can contribute to alleviating multiple stressors at once. I am a creative, curious, and light hearted leader who believes in collaborative problem solving, cultivating the strengths of others, and listening before acting. I bring these skills to bear in service of improving quality of life for all people by finding systems-based solutions across scales. Disrupting the inertia of rigid institutions through equitable co-design and management of places we live, work and play is one critical way to activate these levers. I have worked with historically underserved communities to design vacant properties in a way that breaks reliance on grant funding and attracts diverse partners to implementation and maintenance; built markets for salvaged and sustainably harvested wood products that drive funding back into growing and maintaining our forests while supporting businesses; increased landscape scale collaborative planning of our Nation’s forests to increase the pace of much needed restoration; and, collaboratively crafted policy to address pressing economic, social and environmental issues.

Listed skills include Sustainability, Arcgis, Landscape Architecture, Gis, and 27 others.
