I'm a bonafide do-gooder and profoundly appreciate the transformative power of the human-animal bond for enhancing community well-being and positively contributing to peoples' lives. My professional and personal passions highlight dedication to One Health, particularly through global service, science-driven solutions, and collaboration with underserved populations. I'm committed to being a leader in the new school of veterinary medicine: practice that uplifts clients and communities by prioritizing the human-animal bond, professional culture that exemplifies compassion and dynamism, and cutting-edge medicine that is aligned to each individual animal and owners’ circumstances. In my travels and previous career in community organizing, international development, and policy advocacy, I witnessed symptoms of the disconnect between human, animal, and environmental health. For example, healthcare disparities, climate change, species conservation, educational and gender equity, lack of economic opportunity, and mental illness are all interconnected with how we humans collectively care for animals, ourselves, and the Earth. Because of this, I am dedicated to veterinary medical practice that combats social inequality, reduces zoonotic disease transmission, improves access to care, and enhances collaborative, empowering relationships. It is an honor to work closely with patients, families, and colleagues towards the attainment of these goals and the ultimate improvement of Planetary Health.

Epidemiology Elective ProgramCenters For Disease Control And Prevention Jan 2020 - Mar 2020Atlanta, Ga, UsAs an "Epi Student" I worked under the Arizona State Veterinarian, a CDC Epidemiology Field Officer, within the Arizona Department of Health Services Office of Infectious Diseases, Vector-Borne and Zoonotic Diseases program. My primary responsibilities included investigating the unique parameters that dictate the Arizona and Maricopa County's seasonally cyclical West Nile Virus outbreaks, conducting active rabies surveillance in conjunction with USDA-APHIS Wildlife Services, and touring the state with a "Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever Roadshow" aimed at improving prevention measures on tribal lands. My position coincided with the onset of the 2019 novel Corona virus outbreak and I was immersed in the response at both AZDHS and Maricopa County's EOCs from the time prior to the first US cases, through identification of Arizona PUIs, and following the WHO declaration of a global public health emergency. -
