This work empowers ministry staff to deliver service excellence and achieve meaningful outcomes for children, youth, families, and communities.The Child Safety Oversight and Practice Development (CSOPD) Branch, established in 2024, focuses on continuous practice improvement to ensure the safety, well-being, and regular support of children and youth across BC, particularly those who are most vulnerable. The branch is part of the Office of the Provincial Director and Aboriginal Services Division and collaborates closely with Designated Directors, delegated practitioners, and external partners to strengthen the ministry’s monitoring and oversight functions.Through these efforts, the CSOPD Branch aims to create an environment where children and youth feel safe, supported, and connected, enabling them to thrive within their communities.

Working within a small option home setting, I am responsible for providing support for two young adults living with cognitive impairments/mental health challenges. Duties include: Assisting with the implementation of client case plans as they relate to their individual needs, including but not limited to providing life skills development, counselling, role modelling, behaviour management and modification, and promoting inclusion and activities within the community. Additional responsibilities include charting and recording according to agency standards, administration of medication, accompanying clients in the community, and providing comprehensive supervision to clients throughout the course of my shift.

My work with the NBASW surrounds their current cyberviolence project, funded by the Status of Women Canada, entitled "Preventing and Eliminating Cyberviolence Against Young Women and Girls". Responsibilities include maintaining encouraging positive relationships with various community stakeholders, building our network of partnerships, strategy development, the facilitation of youth focus group(s), and the facilitation of our Community Partners Meeting.
