About Lauren Orme

I'm an award-winning animator and director based in Cardiff, South Wales. I direct and produce animation through my animation studio and production company Picl Animation.My animated short films have been screened at festivals around the world, and my 2019 Ffilm Cymru- and BFI Net.work-funded short Creepy Pasta Salad was shortlisted for the 2020 Best Short Animation BAFTA.I am Festival Director of Cardiff Animation Festival, and have been running events since 2014 when I founded Cardiff Animation Nights, popular bi-monthly screenings of award-winning independent animated films from around in Cardiff City Centre (now online!).At Picl we make animation for broadcast, animated short films, music videos, corporate videos and charity campaigns. We have created animation to breathe life into public health campaigns and news broadcasts, to teach Welsh nursary rhymes to children, to explain complex new strategy proposals to government ministers, and to bring exciting new possibilities to documentary film and theatre productions.
