Lauren received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina and a Master’s degree from Boston University, both in flute performance. During this time she performed with Orchestras, Wind Ensembles, Ballet and Opera companies, and gave 6 full-length solo flute recitals. She is also an alumna of the Brevard Summer Music Program. Lauren has been teaching flute lessons and classes for 16 years, and currently works with a number of exceptional high-school and middle-school music programs across North and South Carolina in addition to being the owner, founder, and lead instructor of "York County Flute Studio." Her students have received such honors as being accepted in to Region Band, All-State Band, the Charlotte Youth Wind Ensemble, and the Carolina Youth Wind Ensemble. They have also received top ratings at numerous competitions and festivals, including those hosted by the Raleigh Area Flute Association and the South Carolina Flute Society, and many of her high-school students have gone on to become successful music majors in college. She works with young beginners through college-age and adult students.In addition to teaching, Lauren currently holds positions with a number of local performance groups including the Union Symphony Orchestra, Aiken Symphony Orchestra, the Carolinas Wind Orchestra, and the Silversmiths Flute Quartet. She has also performed with the Winston- Salem Symphony, Augusta Symphony, Rock Hill Symphony, and Charleston Symphony. Lauren serves as a board member for both the Carolinas Wind Orchestra and the South Carolina Flute Society, and in November 2019 she was invited to perform the winning flute composition for the SCFS Fall festival.Lauren takes a dedicated interest in her students and her performance groups and continues to divide her passion between teaching and performing.
