With my blues group Railroad (Working on the railroad for a dollar a day) we play traditional country blues. Railroad is a trio, I play electric and acoustic bass guitar, Jitze Kopinga plays acoustic guitar and sings, Simon Vink plays bluesharp and sings.The name of the group reflects one of the typical songs we play.

I own and drive two classic cars that within the framework of Muzemakers (with Anneke Rot) I also use and let out for weddings, street parades and the like, and as a stage for musical and poetic performances. The cars concerned are a Volvo Amazon (1968) and a Dodge 1/2 tons pick-up truck (1942). I discovered this Dodge in the summer of 1995 near Garden City, Kansas when I toured there with my folkgroup Folkcorn. Both cars were restored by me with the aid of a group of technical mates. Traditions for Tomorrow supports initiatives of cultural assertion of several peoples and communities of indigenous inhabitants of Central and South America. TfM is a non-profit independent non-governmental international network. As a contactperson/volunteer in The Netherlands I help connecting TfM to possible donor organizations in The Netherlands and keeping in touch with similar organizations in this country .

I play flutes and bass in my folkgroup Folkcorn. Folkcorn, started in 1973, is one of The Netherland's oldest folkgroups. We play early dutch and flemish folkmusic, in fact traditional World Music of The Netherlands, at home and abroad.

Wageningen Monumentaal is a voluntary association for the protection of and education about historic and more recent monuments and other interesting architecture in the city of Wageningen, The Netherlands. By appealing to the press, the general public and local authorities we sometimes manage to protect an interesting building from demolition or neglect. Wageningen got its city rights in 1263. Many monuments were damaged at the beginning and the end of World War II, when Wageningen was a frontline city. Other monuments were demolished by city planners.

My task as the first official citypoet of Wageningen NL in 2012, 2013 and 2014 was to write and present at least 5 poems per year on themes that concerned Wageningen. I a.o. wrote about the importance of cultural education, human rights and refugees, the victims of WO II on the eve of our Liberation Day May 5th, the importance of international city-bonds (jumelage), poems and lyrics connected to the celebration of 750 years of cityrights for Wageningen, poems in memory of some known and unknown inhabitants of Wageningen, monuments, the closing of a meeting place for elderly people and so on. Next to this I organized consulting-hours on poetry related to our national tradition "Sinterklaas" , did poetry-workshops with mentally handicapped people and wrote and presented several texts as a columnist and performer. As a side-effect I was invited to attend congresses and write a poetical summary, like on obesitas among children or improving social welfare facilities and to write poetry for a cookerybook and a poem about the Nicolas Cantata of Benjamin Britten. I frequently used social media to communicate about my work. On January 29th 2015 my successor Martijn Adelmund was elected. I write my texts in Dutch; my poem on the importance of twin towns was translated into German and Hungarian. Examples of other poetry in English can be found on my website.

Fundación Andina or in Dutch "Samenwerkingsverband Hoogland Indianen" (SHI) is a non-governmental organization which supports the indigenous population of the highlands of the Andes mountains of Latin America by raising funds for small scale development projects and by giving public information about the Aymara-, Quechua and other cultures of the Andes in The Netherlands. As a working group member I am coordinating the digitalization and publication of the broad collection of handmade Aymara- and other textile-art.

The Platform BKW is a voluntary non-profit organization that furthers the interests of artists living in or working in the city of Wageningen, The Netherlands. The majority of the members are active as visual and design artists, other members engage in theatre, music or literature. The Platform receives a modest subsidy from the municipality of Wageningen.

As a free-lancer I organized lectures on UNESCO-subjects at institutions for adult education ('Volksuniversiteiten') in The Netherlands.
