During my time at the KU Leuven, both as a doctoral and post-doctoral researcher, I have worked on advanced signal processing techniques in hyperspectral and thermal remote sensing imagery. In addition, my personal role at the lab shifted from an active researcher to a supervisor, facilitator and initiator of the ongoing research lines. This has enabled me to broaden my area of expertise, gain experience in project and people management, as well as expand my network. In 2015, I transferred to VITO, where I continued my work on the use of remote sensing technologies in agriculture. I was able to continue some of my work from KU Leuven on the monitoring of fruit orchards, where much attention goes to the unmanned aerial vehicle technology (also known as UAV's or "drones"​) both for (very) local stress detection as the early determination of (potential) yield. The bulk of my current work, however, is making sure that my projects go as planned and within the foreseen budget, identifying new research lines, as well as ensuring funding to bring these ideas into practice. Current and past projects include (i) the FAO WaPOR data portal, (ii) showcasing the added value of geospatial data in a development context (IFAD), development op operational services in an agricultural context (H2020 projects, BELSPO, VLAIO, ...). This has enabled me to put my research background into practical applications, and provide EO-based solutions for very specific problems.
