About Laurent Babikian
Driven by the desire to help companies and financial institutions accelerate their transition to a net-zero, regenerative economy, I began my career in 1993 working in financial markets, trying to generate more money than the normal flow of money created. In short, making money disconnected from the real economy. In 2013, I left the private sector to join CDP, the leading environmental reporting platform, where I held various executive leadership positions to provide:- capital markets participants with the right set of environmental data, ratings and tools in order to enable them to create Paris aligned financial products.- companies with operational guidance to implement the winning combo : SBTi(N) targets + Credible Transition Plan After 11 years, I have decided to leave CDP to contribute to the necessary change of mindset needed among today's leaders to ensure that just transition does not remain only a promise.Indeed, it will be difficult for companies and financial institutions that do not jump on the transition bandwagon to remain competitive and profitable between now and 2050.In fact, companies, financial institutions and their stakeholders are facing an existential threat.To achieve this, they will have to "transition away" from extractive business models based on programmed obsolescence to regenerative business models with sustainability-linked pricing.I am a proud member of the steering committee of the CEM, Cercle de l'Expertise à Mission (Mission driven Expert Circle)In parallel, I sit at the advisory board of the Euronext Low Carbon 100 index and the French GreenFin environmental label managed by the Ministry of Environment.I am an honorary member of the Climate Dividends and sit at the scientific committee of the Paris Agreement Commons Research (PARC) Foundation I speak fluently Portuguese, English and French.Key words: Strategic thinker, private equity, sustainability, sustainable finance, ESG, Net zero economy, Corporate Sustainability, Regenerative Business Models, Impact
