Hello! I'm Lauren, a second-year medical student at Kansas City University and graduate from UMKC where I earned a B.A. in Chemistry and B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature. My passion for medicine comes from a desire to make a difference in the world, one patient at a time. As Maya Angelou said, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."I'm interested in the intersection of healthcare and policy and believe that systemic changes are necessary to improve health outcomes for all. I'm committed to staying informed about healthcare policy and advocating for policies that prioritize the health and wellbeing of all individuals.I'm also dedicated to investigating ways to provide better healthcare to vulnerable populations, including non-English speaking patients and LGBTQ+ individuals. I believe that physicians have a unique perspective and voice that can be leveraged to advocate for the needs of their patients and communities. I'm eager to connect with others who share similar interests and goals, as I believe collaboration and shared learning are essential to effecting positive change.
