Instructional Coach And Gifted And Talented Facilitator
CurrentWorking with professional learning communities and grade level teams at Powell Middle School, I support student-centered planning and implementation of instruction based on the needs of our students and community. In concert with our Instructional Leadership Team, I facilitate professional development opportunities building common language around literacy, assessment, technology integration, collaboration and critical thinking, and student engagement through differentiated, relevant, rigorous instruction. In my other role as Gifted and Talented facilitator, I foster and monitor our highly-able students in the use of 21st Century skills, extension/enrichment opportunities, and social/emotional support. Through a transition class, called G/T Seminar, our students build self-advocacy, communication, collaboration, creativity/innovation, and critical thinking skills to support their classroom learning experiences. To support students interests outside of the school day, I coordinate building and district competitions such as Chess Club, Brain Bowl, Destination Imagination, NaNoWriMo Writing Club, and the Scripps Spelling Bee.As Building Assessment Coordinator, I work closely with our school assessment team to coordinate state and district assessment processes for TCAP, CMAS, and the upcoming PARCC assessment.I am proud to return to the LPS Middle Level Literacy Framework Committee. Our goal this year is to support professional development for teachers as they continue implementing the framework and aligning lessons and student learning with Common Core State Standards.
