SC Thrive is a non-profit dedicated to helping the state’s disadvantaged obtain quality-of-life government benefits. I was hired in anticipation of the organization securing a large grant that would have dramatically changed the scale and scope of who they could help in South Carolina as well as the need to promote the organization. Unfortunately, the grant was put on hold indefinitely and those of us who had been hired in preparation where sent home.

GSCV is the local council of national youth organization dedicated exclusively to girls. I was responsible for marketing the organization, raising awareness in the community and protecting their brand.Key Accomplishments:• Oversaw all marketing, communications and PR plans and activities• Served as media liaison and corporate spokesperson • Wrote effective press releases garnering record positive press coverage (both TV and print) for signature key event that previously had been ignored • Helped manage and contain potentially damaging press coverage regarding controversy with competing youth organization• Wrote numerous well-received speeches and media talking points for CEO• Expanded and improved press and media relations• Initiated and brokered first strategic partnership between council and local television station - doubling the council’s advertising budget and exposure for its signature event• Redesigned and reformatted signature summer camp brochure resulting in 35% increase in camp registrations the first year - 40% the second• Reduced print spending by more than 20% while simultaneously improving quality of end product• Increased open rate of weekly volunteer e-newsletter from 19% to over 40%

I took a sabbatical to concentrate on my family. Raising five children and running a household enhanced my talents in leadership, teamwork, determination, and prioritization as I managed multiple schedules, trained others, enforced rules and provided around-the-clock care. While at home, I kept my skills fresh and current by volunteering in the community and taking online classes and workshops - particularly in the area of social media and analytics.

My two main responsibilities at Think Design were to secure new business for the firm and make certain our clients well serviced and satisfied.
