Maintaining the proper pricing documentation, files for discounted pricing, print logs for special print accounts, following up on shipments and providing excellent communication and updates is crucial in the packaging world. A fair amount of our customers deal with time sensitive products such as produce and aren't able to shelve their products while waiting on a delivery. This can often mean rush shipments with status updates throughout the night. It is a great feeling to make a customer happy that they aren't losing money waiting on a shipment. Remembering key notes about accounts is also a plus in the customer service world. My responsibilities include scheduling of orders to production, the in-office liaison with our off-site IT department, working with our Human Resources contact, and managing the Recapture/Recycle Program. I quickly earned the purchasing title which allowed me to complete the circle of buying and paying for the items. In the accounting step, I scheduled payments in order to take advantage of discounts where applicable and also had the knowledge from the purchasing side if there was an issue that would create a stop pay on a bill. The purchasing side allowed me the ability to work with suppliers to get costs down while maintaining quality and scheduling as well as understanding their production schedules to be able to deliver to us in a J.I.T. capacity. I would attend production meetings to determine upcoming jobs and dye/chemicals needs. This allowed a J.I.T ordering process that kept just enough product (with a small overage) on our floor for the following week's production. Show less
