The goals of FEC are to provide practical environmental management solutions and to provide mentoring and training to the next generation of environmental scientists. As well as providing consulting services I am an adjunct lecturer in the School of Environmental and Earth Sciences at the Charles Sturt University, Port Macquarie Campus. I am a Certified Professional Soil Scientist (CPSS) and an active member of the National Committee for Acid Sulfate Soils (NatCASS).The type of services FEC provides includes:• Peer Review of environmental reports including contaminated land assessments, remediation and management; waste classification reports; environmental management plans and soil science reports to ensure the reports are fit for purpose, technically and commercially sound and comply with current legislation and environmental standards. • Support during project work including attending meetings with clients, subcontractors etc, overseeing management of project to achieve budget and profit targets;• Preparation of environmental reports, management plans and soil surveys and studies;• Expert witness in my fields of expertise;• Mentoring and training to junior and mid level staff in geology, geomorphology and soil science.

As a Group Leader and Principal Scientist I provided strong technical leadership and mentoring to Coffey staff located across NSW and Australia. I was responsible for project direction and peer review for teams working on a range of contaminated site assessments and remediation projects. I also provided direction on soil science for contaminated land assessments, groundwater studies and acid sulfate soil across mining, oil and gas and transport infrastructure projects.My areas of expertise:• Site investigation techniques and environmental monitoring• Contamination site assessment and remediation• Landfill design and groundwater investigation• Acid sulfate soil and rock identification and management• Education and training on acid sulfate soils

My main role was in project management on a range of medium to large scale contaminated land, landfill and land capability studies, including acid sulfate soil assessments. I also managed the operation of the environmental consulting business for the South Coast region, based in Wollongong, NSW. The overall aim of both offices was to provide specialist environmental and geotechnical engineering services including:• Route selection and terrain evaluation including soil and geological surveys, groundwater assessment and slope instability assessments for road and rail alignments and service corridors.• Groundwater investigations in several stages ranging from feasibility, site selection, design and specification, drilling and bore construction to monitoring and modeling.• Specialist site assessment capabilities including soil investigations for construction of new building infrastructure, railway formations, road and industrial pavements, quarries, levees and dams.
