- Designing mental-health intervention and prevention programs- Implementing counseling and educational strategies at the secondary level- Collaborating with educational staff to create coordinated plans- Evaluating and reporting on student progress (e.g. using psychometric tests)- Assessing students to determine eligibility for specialized instruction/services- Setting learning goals based on each student’s emotional, cognitive, and social strengths and areas of need- Referring students to community services, if needed- Researching new methods to improve children’s wellbeing (e.g. trauma-informed teaching practices) - Resolving classroom and/or school crises- Mentoring and supporting teachers of high-risk children- Guiding parents in facilitating children’s progress and navigating special education law, as outlined by IDEA

- Assessing children that exhibit emotional, cognitive, social, and behavioral difficulties- Creating and rolling out primary and secondary intervention programs- Consulting with other professionals, including teachers- Engaging in the evaluation and development of educational programs- Participating in research in school psychology- Supervising, encouraging, and educating those who wish to enter the field

- Conducting surveys as well as collecting, analyzing, and interpret results- Searching and compile material and literature required for research- Typing notes, feeding data into computers, making photocopies and organizing materials- Documenting the research findings and results in a systematic manner as requested by the researcher- Understanding the requirements of the researcher and assisting them in all research related activities

- Providing faculty, staff, and students access to language and literacy resources to support their research, scholarship, practice, creative activities, community-based programs, and outreach initiatives- Identifying, acquiring, developing, and assessing evidence-based resources to advance language and literacy skills across the lifespan- Creating training materials as well as on– and off-campus presentations to share information about evidence-based resources and practices with members of the Bloomsburg community and beyond
