The Academy was established in 1992 after Estonia regained its independence and has been several times awarded with national and international high quality awards since.In Autumn 2010 the Academy of Security Sciences became the Estonian first higher educational institution in at which all curriculum groups had passed evaluation by an independent quality agency. The curricula of professional higher education and the master’s study of the Academy of Security Sciences received positive evaluations in the transitional assessment of the Estonian Higher Education Quality Agency which means that the curricula of EASS are of high quality and meet the state-set high quality requirements. With the decision of Quality Agency, the Academy has been given an unlimited right to conduct studies and issue national diplomas, which provide opportunities for graduates to continue their studies in other institutions of higher education and in other countries.
