About Lauren Sadowski

Lauren is currently teaching conservation and ecology classes as an Affiliated Faculty at Emerson College. In addition, Lauren is an Environmental Justice Specialist for EPA Region 1 working in Vermont on uplifting marginalized communities. She holds a Master of Environmental Management from the Yale School of the Environment, where she focused on stakeholder engagement, policy sciences, and wildlife ecology through a transdisciplinary framework. In 2021, Lauren was recognized and awarded with the Leadership in Conservation Science scholarship by Yale. In 2017, Lauren graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies with a focus in Ecology and Conservation and a minor in Wildlife Biology from Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Vermont. As an undergraduate, Lauren completed two field-based conservation research programs through the University of New Hampshire in partnership with EcoQuest Education Foundation in New Zealand and with Utah State University in partnership with Round River Conservation Studies in Botswana. In 2022, Lauren later returned to Round River Conservation Studies as a Program Instructor teaching and leading undergraduate environmental students in Atlin, British Columbia with the Taku River Tlingit First Nation and in the Okavango Delta of Botswana with the Bayei, Bugakhwe, and Basarwa tribes.Working across a diversity of cultural and ecological contexts, Lauren's most recent research focused on the human dimensions of grizzly bear celebritization and conflict management in Teton County, Wyoming. She has integrated her insights from conservation research with her lived experience leading community development, anti-poaching, and livelihood diversification initiatives in Botswana, where she has resided with indigenous communities for three years.
